Dinner at Canan’s – sushi & white wine. Made it an early one cos we were all a bit knackered but then I got stuck watching Democracy Now‘s coverage of the Troy Davis execution – I was thoroughly glued and appalled, not quite believing I was watching this unfold in America. Hopefully the attention surrounding this specific case helps turn a shocking event into something positive in the future.
The mother turned 65 today – quite ancient. James & Camille showed up in the morning and we lazed around a little, drinking coffee, reading the papers before heading off to th International final – won by Algot, a lively folk duo from Sweden – the two Belgian bands placed 2nd and 3rd so a pretty good showing! I think everyone was happy for the experience of playing in the Botanique anyway so no broken hearts. As well ad J & C – Alex, Vanessa & Eliot came to town for the expo which was really touching. Some of the crew had been paintballing and showed up towards to end so had a quick drink at Bota before heading home to celebrate aforementioned aging – with wine and tiramisù.
1748 – Birthday of Olympe de Gouges
Clelia and my ridiculously cute nephew Boris are in town for a couple of days so met up with them for lunch at St Boniface. Spent part of the afternoon shopping for baby clothes and books, quick tea at mine, walked them to their temporary lodgings and came back to work. Pretty chill Monday.
Played a little more with my new lens… Used Mireille who was over for dinner.
I’m not a huge fan of lifts so when it’s a manageable amount of floors I tend to use the stairs, which is fine in small buildings but when I’m visiting a huge office building/concert or conference venue/hotel… I often get completely lost. You’d think the ‘fire escape’ stairways would be well marked… but this is me getting lost today.
