The Teacher Well-Being project was launched in 2008. The project intends to improve the motivation and decrease the stress levels of teachers dealing with difficult issues such as crime, HIV, poor participation and carrying the burden of their students often complicated circumstances.
Phase one concentrated on the Western Cape Province in South Africa and was completed in 2010. However, the challenge is ongoing – the values associated with teacher wellbeing must be grounded into society and promoted across all schools in an effort to improve both teacher and student well-being.
